Accommodation

How do I get my damage deposit back?

Prior to checking out of your accommodation, you must clean your bed area, wash any sheets and covers on your bed, and ensure that the bed area is ready for the next person. You must clear out all your belongings from the fridge and other areas of the house. When you have done this inform the house manger and the house manger will make a check to see it is all clean and ready for the next person. If it is clean and tidy and ready for the next person you should then come to INTERNeX Monday – Friday 10 am – 5pm and collect your deposit (less $10 for each month or part thereof) that you lived in the house, or we may transfer the deposit (less $10 for each month or part thereof) that you lived in the house) direct to your bank account in Canada, but this may take up to 2 weeks to process. We do not return cash.

How much noise can people make in the house?

We realize that there are many people all working and studying different hours, and as such, no individual or group should make noise that interferes with a person’s right to sleep. Remember that Users staying in Staff Housing do not necessarily work the same hours as you and may be trying to sleep when you are awake, Please keep noise to a minimum at all times, in a considerate way. After 10pm there is zero noise tolerance!

Parties will not be tolerated. A “party” is any type of gathering where there is noise that can be heard from the neighboring units, houses and buildings or from 30 feet away. This goes for gatherings in the common areas of the Residences or gatherings on the grounds.

Who cleans the house?

You are responsible for the general cleaning of the unit, specifically the removal of your property and/or garbage, washing, drying and putting away of dishes, mopping and vacuuming the floors, cleaning the fridge, stove and oven and any other cleaning.

What is included with my user fee?

Included in your daily / monthly fee is power, gas, water, wireless internet, and in some properties cable television.

How much notice do I have to give before I move out?

You must give 21 days notice by way of email to an INTERNeX representative. If less than 21 days notice is given you will be charged the daily rate for every day up to 21 days and this will which will be deducted from your damage deposit. If the amount owed is greater than the damage deposit you will have to pay INTERNeX any outstanding fees.

There is an automatic $10.00 per month maintenance (general wear and tear) fee deducted from your damage deposit after your check out.
e.g. $ 275 deposit
- $ 60 maintenance and cleaning fee (if have lived here for 5 ½ months )
= $ 215 eligible for refund subject to room inspection
If you only gave 10 nights notice we would then deduct an additional 4 nights cost, which for example may be $20 per night so we would deduct $80. In this case you would receive a damage deposit return of $215 - $80 = $135
