What do we do for Garbage and Recycling?

Rubbish must be placed in proper garbage bags, tied and placed out at the appropriate time for removal. Garbage and recycling must be divided. Cartons and Jars must be cleaned in a basin with drainage before placed in Recycling. Paper must be bundled and tied with string. Bottles and cans must be emptied in a basin with drainage. Do not leave garbage or recycling on decks or patio’s. If you do, a warning will be issued to each User sharing the unit and a $25.00 fine will be charged to your account unless the individual responsible can be identified. This is very important in Whistler where there are issues with bears looking for garbage. Also in Whistler, as there is no council rubbish and recycling collection, all users are responsible for costs associated with garbage pick-up. The cost is per bag so it is all users responsibility to recycle and re-use to cut down garbage collection costs. If you take Recycling to Nester’s you can receive extra cash, open Friday to Monday noon – 4 pm.

Note: If you take a small amount of garbage with you to the city every time you go then there will be less cost for garbage collection. It is extremely important to empty bottles and cans in a basin with drainage, otherwise it will attract bears!
