Hello Everybody,
My name is Sabrina and I spent my summer in Lake Louise. INTERNeX helped me to get a position at the front desk in a fabulous high class hotel in one of the most gorgeous places on earth, Lake Louise, in the heart of the Canadian Rockies.
For those who looked up Lake Louise on Google Earth and think that it is just a small village in the middle of nowhere with nothing going on are totally wrong.
It is right that Lake Louise is a small village in the middle of nowhere (the next town is Banff which is about 56km away) and those people who need their daily Starbucks Coffee and their Fast Food every week might not like it.
But Lake Louise and the area around have so much to offer that I couldn’t manage to see all I wanted besides working. To enjoy the life in Lake Louise you have to be creative the mountains give you a lot of options such as hiking, biking, horseback riding, rafting and, and, and. Nobody expects from you to like everything I still don’t enjoy mountain biking but that is fine I spent my summer trying new things with friends.
We hiked a lot, went camping or made bonfires in our backyard. And it doesn’t matter how many lakes you see you will be fascinated by the beauty every time. For those who like photography you will love it here and if you are not that into it you will get into it. Here you are surrounded by pure nature and wildlife. Latest when you have a bear in your backyard you will realize it. When you just go for a walk or drive around with your car you will see so many animals. Bears, big horn sheep, coyotes, mooses, and elks are no abnormality here.
Even though Lake Louise is a small village it has everything you need to make life comfortable. It has a little book store, a village market, a liquor store, a sports store, a coffee shop, a bakery, a Post Office, a bank, a hostel where you can get great food and have fun at the weekly karaoke night, the Explorers Bar where it has a dance night every week and the Bar&Grill where you can go for a drink after work with your friends.
Of course it is nice to go somewhere else on your days off. I didn’t have a car but here around live so many people with cars that you can just go somewhere together on your days off. And believe me these road trips are always great fun.
It is not just the nature which makes you enjoy living here it is the people who live here. I had an awesome summer with all the people I worked with and who lived here. Some of them will be friends forever. You live in a really close community here and still have your private space.
Right now I look forward to the winter and all its activities. Skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, ice skating and snow shoeing are just some of the many activities the winter is offering.
I will enjoy the second half of my year in Canada.
