What is a “cultural mosaic”?
Over 60% of the population of the urban centers of Canada are of minority designation. We are a country of immigrants, and as a result, we have developed a concept called the “cultural mosaic”. This means that unlike a “melting pot” philosophy we do not consider all Canadians as ultimately homogeneous… We are a culture of cultures bound by a single nationality but preserving traditions from other cultural groups. This uniquely defines Canada as a culture of cultures living in mutual respect and appreciation. This means that your host organization will likely have people from many different cultures.
